Some 363 registered nurses in the province took the Nurse Deployment Project examination on December 5 at the Mountain Province State Polytechnic College auditorium.
According to Josephine Copanut of the Center for Health Development – Cordillera Administrative Region (CHD-CAR), the province is allotted 47 slots for the government’s Nurse Deployment Project, which replaces the Registered Nurse for Health Enhancement and Local Service (RNHEALS) project.
The Nurse Deployment Project of the Department of Health (DOH) aims to improve local health systems and support the Philippines’ attainment of Universal Health Care or “Kalusugang Pangkalahatan”. It also aims to give employment opportunities to the growing number of unemployed nurses in the country.
Copanut said the 363 registered nurse applicants shall undergo the selection process of the CHD and the first process is the conduct of an examination. Answer sheets will be checked at the regional office. Those who pass the examination will be interviewed and required documents will also be evaluated.
Qualified nurses will be hired on a Contract of Service status with an equivalent item of Nurse I, Salary Grade 11 with monthly salary of P18,549.00 which shall be given in full for nurses who have completed the number of working days. The start of contract shall be in January 2014.
They will be deployed in rural health units,birthing homes, barangay health stations, and Level 1 local government unit (LGU) hospitals giving preference to Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) areas of the Department of Social Welfare and Development 20 poorest provinces and 1,233 focus municipalities identified by the National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC).
The nurses shall be evaluated after every semester to measure their performance during their deployment period using the Performance Evaluation Form. Only nurses with very satisfactory performance are eligible for renewal of contract.
